The Lithuanian government has resigned

The cabinet of the Lithuanian Ministers resigned. The government has made the decision at a specially invited session.

"In case of resignation of the Prime Minister, according to the law, the government resigns and informs the President," the government's press service said.

Prime Minister Gertautas Palukas resigned on July 31, after information was published in the media that he avoided his queue before taking office, which was the main shareholder for a company.

Back in 2012, when he worked as director of the capital's city administration, Palukas faced a court of official authority to provide protection under the Treaty of Communal Services.

He received two years of conditional imprisonment and committed to pay 16,500 euros compensation. The payment was to be made within a year, but the Prime Minister made his latest payments only in July of this year.
