South Africa must urgently adapt to the unstable global trade in US customs duties, South African President Syrely Ramafosa said.
"The US decision to set a 30% customs duties on imports from South Africa emphasizes the urgency we need to adapt to a more and more unstable global trade environment," said the statement on the website of the Office of the President.
Raghphosa said that Washington's customs duties will have a great impact on the country's industries that largely depend on US exports, as well as on the national budget.
The presidential statement also emphasizes that the supplies of goods from South Africa are not competing with American producers and are not a threat to the US industry.
