Germany, Italy and a number of other EU countries are slow to prepare for possible sanctions against Israel due to the situation in the Gaza Strip, the DPA news agency reported.
The Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Alliance (CORPER) has been a meeting, during which it was not possible to reach an agreement on the launch of the procedure for the adoption of sanctions.
During the meeting, the representatives of Germany, Italy and a number of other countries said they wanted to analyze the initiative and consider it necessary to "wait for the further developments in the coming days," the agency writes. In addition, some countries are concerned that sanctions may complicate dialogue with the Israeli authorities.
Koreper must now solve technical issues related to sanctions.
