NASA's workforce will be reduced by 21%

The US Department of National Aeronautics and Space (NASA) predicts that the number of its employees will decrease by 3870, reaching about 14,000. The official representative of the Space Agency Sheryl Wars told TASS on Friday.

He noted that NASA intends to "balance the need for optimization and efficiency while maintaining the ability to fully pursue space research and innovation, including the study of the Moon and Mars.

According to Warner, about 3870 employees (21% of the total) agreed to participate in two reduction programs that allow employees to leave extra wages or other privileges.

According to Warner, the NASA management expects that after the implementation of these two programs and in the case of normal crew, the number of department employees will be about 14,000. The agency's representative did not rule out that these assessments will change. He did not mention the exact dates of the release of the mentioned employees.
