The useful feature of beet juice has been named for the elderly

Scientists from the University of Exeter have found that the juice of concentrated beets helps lower blood pressure to the elderly, changing the composition of bacteria in the mouth. The results of the study were published in the "Free Radical Biology and Medicine" magazine.

75 volunteers took part in the study, 36 elderly (60 to 70 years old) and 39 young people. The study participants were divided into two groups, gaining beet juice or placebo. The participants drank the drink twice a day.

At the end of the experimental period, each volunteer's oral microbomal was analyzed through a sequence. It turned out that the elderly participants had potentially harmful bacteria such as Prevotella, the decrease in the number of useful bacteria, such as Neisseria, the growth of the proportion after drinking the juice.

These changes have increased the efficiency of the transformation of the molecule regulating the molecule of nitrogen oxide and vessels. As a result, the blood pressure in humans with hypertension was significantly lower. Young participants have not been impressed.

The authors emphasize that the nutrestrial containing the nitrate can become an affordable way to maintain cardiovascular health with age. Scientists have reminded that there are nitrates in addition to the beets, in Rucola, Celery, Mold and Cabbage.
