A resolution in the French National Assembly has been put into circulation in which the French government and the European Union call on Azerbaijan to speed up the signing of the peace agreement with Armenia and the release of Armenian captives in Baku.
The resolution was co-authored by the chairman of the "Republican Right" faction, France-Armenia Friendship Group, and Alexander Marten, Deputy Chairman of the same group.
The resolution states that France has a historic and political role in supporting Armenia's efforts to achieve peace in Armenia as a regular member of the UN Security Council and a key player to implement the European Neighborhood Policy. In this context, the need to sign the Armenia-France Strategy Partnership document based on democracy, human rights, security and development.
