Azerbaijanis desecrated the graves of participants in the 44-day war in the Stepanakert memorial complex, smashed stone vases placed near the tombstones, and tore off paving stones. This was reported by the monumentwatch.org website, whose team studied the videos spread on social networks in February 2025.
At the same time, the website emphasizes that the tombstones, the inscriptions on them, and the images of the soldiers are intact.
“Although the Azerbaijani authorities have not yet touched the memorial complex, it is obvious that it is periodically becoming a target of vandalism and is under threat of destruction,” the article states.
