On January 14, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received the delegation led by Ara Shahverdyan, the head of the Iran-Armenia friendship group of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Mehdi Sobhani.
Welcoming the visit of the delegation to Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan emphasized that the economic relations between Armenia and Iran are at a high level, in order to maintain and deepen them, it is necessary to activate practical steps in the direction of increasing the volume of trade and expanding the areas of cooperation.
Then the parties discussed the most prospective directions of cooperation in the field of economy.
In this context, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture and tourism were particularly highlighted. The minister briefly presented the state support tools in the field of economy and expressed his willingness to encourage the process of implementing foreign investment projects in RA.
In his speech, Gevorg Papoyan highlighted the importance of organizing regular business forums in order to promote the ties between the private sectors of the two countries, implement joint projects in the future and establish close interaction.
In order to raise awareness about the tourism potential of Armenia and Iran and to encourage the growth of tourist visits between the two countries, it was suggested to organize familiarization visits for the media of the two countries. The possible perspectives of Armenia's representation in Chabahar port of Iran were also addressed.
