The "Mother Armenia" faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders has initiated a signature collection to convene an extraordinary session of the Council of Elders. Party member Gevorg Stepanyan announced live on Facebook that instead of 22 signatures required for convening an extraordinary session, they collected 23 signatures.
"The number one task on the agenda for convening an extraordinary session is to stop the increase in the price of transport, which the nine percent municipal authorities want to impose on the people, adding a new burden to their shoulders," said the opposition member of the council of elders.
The extraordinary session of the council is scheduled for January 21 at 10:00.
