The Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Artur Atabekyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin.
Artur Atabekyan highly appreciated the development of cooperation with the Russian Federation in all directions, especially in the judicial sphere, which is of vital importance for the states. Reformers of the judicial system were at the core of the meeting.
The Chairman of the SC presented the works already done, in particular, the changes aimed at ending the delays in court cases, reducing the workload of judges, and the upcoming actions, highlighting both the legislative reforms and the fact that the positions of judges are already almost 100% filled, which is his in turn, it will contribute to reducing the workload of the judicial system and shortening the terms of examination of cases. They talked about the prospects of cooperation between the judicial systems of the two countries.
Reference was made to the first session of the Council of Presidents of the CIS Supreme Courts held in Yerevan on December 12, it was noted that it can be an important prerequisite for the strengthening and development of further cooperation in the judicial sphere with the CIS countries, including the Russian Federation.
It is noteworthy that within the framework of this cooperation, judges of the CIS countries can undergo training at the Academy of Justice of the Russian Federation. Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin, in his turn, emphasized the cooperation based on friendly relations between the two countries also in the judicial sphere.
He expressed his readiness to support its deepening, particularly in the steps aimed at strengthening the interaction of justice academies of the two countries in the field of training of judges.
