The first tanker of liquefied natural gas (LNG) since the escalation of tensions in the Middle East entered the Strait of Hormuz and headed for an export terminal in Oman, Bloomberg reported, citing ship tracking data.
"A liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker entered the Strait of Hormuz at the Sohar LNG tanker, which appears to be empty, after changing course to the LNG export terminal in Qalhat, Oman," the agency reported, citing ship tracking data.
The article notes that if the tanker makes its way, it could be the first vessel of its kind to transit the Persian Gulf region since hostilities began. According to the agency, the ship signals that it belongs to Oman and has been circling the Persian Gulf for the past month.
