To maximize the health benefits of coffee, sugar and artificial sweeteners, which are often added in excessive amounts, should be avoided. American doctor Trisha Pasrichi explained in an interview with Infobae that commercial creams should also be avoided due to the high level of unhealthy fats in them.
The expert recommends choosing filtered coffee because it contains less harmful compounds. A previous study by Uppsala University found that coffee made from coffee machines contains the highest levels of diterpenes, cafestol and kahveol, substances that raise blood cholesterol.
"Ground coffee, instant coffee or a decaffeinated version are also suitable alternatives," added the doctor.
The expert noted that the most useful coffee is the purest without additives. However, special moderation is necessary with commercial creams. Research has shown that coffee creamers (especially seasonal flavors) typically contain vegetable oils as a primary ingredient. Moreover, the finished product can be an unexpected source of sugar.
The doctor also emphasized the importance of time. it is best to drink coffee before noon in order not to disturb the sleep schedule. Pasricha also reminded that the drink stimulates intestinal peristalsis, so people with severe reactions should take coffee breaks.
