The US Air Force has increased its contract with Lockheed Martin for the production of C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft by $10 billion to $25 billion, according to a statement released by the Pentagon press service on Tuesday.
"As a result of the change, the total nominal value of the contract increased from 15 billion dollars to 25 billion dollars," the document states. The contract should be completed by July 16, 2035.
The exact number of aircraft to be produced during this period has not yet been specified. The American side plans to sell some of them to Australia, Germany, Egypt, New Zealand, Norway, the Philippines and France. The US Air Force also awarded Boeing a $2 billion contract for engine replacement services for B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers.
The contract is due to expire on May 31, 2033.
