Yoga courses have significant imperfections

Yoga does not strengthen blood vessels as effective as traditional, energetic exercises. This conclusion was reached by the scientists of the Manipal Higher Education Academy (India). The results of the study were published in the journal "Advances in Integrative Medicine" (AIM).

The authors of the work studied the data of the randomized clinical trials and cross tests that compared the impact of yoga and classic training on the vascular function of the sedentary adult. It turned out that aerobic exercises, interval trainings, Pilates or Tai, mainly maintained the elasticity of blood vessels and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

"Blood vessels can be compared to flexible pipes. If they lose elasticity, the probability of cardiovascular disease is growing sharply. Our analysis has shown that structural trainings maintain this flexibility better than yoga, "said Dr. Lina David from the University of Sharjah.

At the same time, experts say Yoga has still had a positive effect on the body. It is especially useful for middle and older people, as well as for those who are contraindicated in intensive physical activity. However, in order to strengthen the cardiovascular system, researchers advise yoga to combine with more energetic exercises.
