British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed his support for increasing defense spending. He made this statement at a press conference, commenting on the reports of the BBC, according to which London intends to accelerate spending on this point and may reach 3% of GDP by 2029.
"It means that we have to move faster in terms of defense spending," the Prime Minister said. His answers to journalists' questions were broadcast on Sky News.
Starmer explained the need for increased defense spending by citing the threat that Russia is believed to pose to the United Kingdom, even if there is peace in Ukraine.
"It will affect every person in this room, every person in this country, so we have to increase spending," Starmer said.
