The consular service makes the life of RA citizens living abroad easier


Some consular services have become easier and more accessible for RA citizens living in foreign countries through the type link.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia provides a variety of consular services related to obtaining or exchanging a passport of an RA citizen, as well as obtaining a certificate of return to Armenia.

Artur Petrosyan, Acting Head of the Consular Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, stated this in a conversation with "Armenpress", detailing that, in general, Armenia has 55 consular posts in 43 countries of the world, but this consular coverage is not enough, and in a number of states citizens embassies are not available for them, therefore, the possibility of consular services is quite important, saving time and financial resources.

"Currently, it is possible to receive (exchange) the passport of an RA citizen through Internet, and in the case of an urgent need to return to Armenia, one can also receive a certificate of return to Armenia," Petrosyan said, clarifying what consular services residents in foreign countries can use through Internet. RA citizens.

Touching on the question in which cases citizens can apply for a passport through a visa, Artur Petrosyan informed that the need to apply through a visa mainly arises in cases when the citizen is in a foreign country where the Republic of Armenia does not have a consular institution, as well as in such a place of residence, from which the nearest consular institution is located at a distance of hundreds, and sometimes even thousands of kilometers.

"There are also cases when a citizen does not have the opportunity to physically present himself at the nearest embassy for any other reason," said Artur Petrosyan, Acting Head of the Consular Service of the RA MFA. The latter, speaking also about the payments set for specific services, specifically mentioned that in that case, an additional state duty of 25,000 AMD is set.

"For example, if the state fee for obtaining a passport is 65,000 AMD in the case of applying to the embassy, ​​then the state fee is 90,000 AMD in the case of a formal application. Correspondingly, if the state fee for receiving the RA return certificate from the embassy is AMD 20,000, then it is AMD 45,000 in case of a formal application," said Artur Petrosyan.
