The Israeli Air Force destroyed a hotel in Lebanon where Bunin and de Gaulle stayed

Israeli aircraft during the bombing of the city of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon destroyed the building of the historical Palmyra Hotel, said the head of the owners' union Bayer al-Ashkar. "which is located directly opposite the Baalbek temple complex," his statement says. Palmyra Hotel in Baalbek included in the list of the main historical sites of Lebanon. The hotel, built in 1874, has hosted guests such as Ataturk, Ivan Bunin, Charles de Gaulle, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Pablo Picasso. The head of the union recalled that Palmyra was one of the main historical buildings of Lebanon. “Its destruction is a great loss for Lebanon, and such crimes on the part of Israel cannot be ignored,” he added. Al-Ashkar noted that the union has already called on the government and parliament to make efforts to strengthen action by the international community and the UN Security Council to stop Israeli aggression against Lebanon and protect historical sites from bombing.
