The British writer Joanne Rowling sent a touching letter and an inscribed book to Major Alexander Ivanov of the Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who told his comrades all the "Harry Potter" novels during his stay in Russian captivity for more than four years.
The soldier shared photos of the gift on Instagram, quoting the famous words of Albus Dumbledore. "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if you don't forget to turn to the light." In her letter, Rowling stated that she was happy for Ivanov's release and wished him a long and happy life.
The story of the soldier was told to the writer by his wife, Nellie, noting that her husband was in worse conditions than the Azkaban prison in the world of Harry Potter. In order for the letter to reach the addressee, the NGO "Ukraine Wow" also joined the case.
