The head of the current government, Nikol Pashinyan, who said back in 2019, "Is there a judge in Armenia who can't do what I say?", continues to consistently deprive the judicial system of its autonomy and independence. In addition to the fact that the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Justice "chain" initiate disciplinary proceedings and give punishments to those judges who do not fit into their desired "frames", the authorities do not shy away from other, despicable methods.
For example, a few days ago, a number of pro-government pages and users of social networks actively began to spread some correspondence of a sexual nature, where the name of the judge of the RA anti-corruption court, Sargis Petrosyan, was discussed. The latter issued a refuting statement, in which he specifically wrote:
"Allegedly sexual messages spreading about me on social networks are a vile fake. Their distribution is clearly intended to discredit MY AUTHORITY in relation to my professional activity as a JUDGE. I submitted a crime report regarding the mentioned fact. The organizers and perpetrators of this criminal act will be found out and will be held criminally liable." The confidence of Judge Petrosyan, especially regarding the last sentence, is of course enviable, because during the reign of Nikol Pashinyan, there can hardly be any question of responsibility when the main spreaders are the pro-government platforms.
By the way, let's remind that Petrosyan is the judge in the "case" of Robert Kocharyan and others, several other high-profile cases were assigned to him as well, he is also known for the fact that he was once a member of the Criminal Court, on the basis of which the lawyers presented petitions for the judge's recusal at the court hearings more than once. Moreover, in connection with the publication of information related to the previous cover-up, he got upset and removed a journalist from one of the media outlets from the courtroom. However, why did the authorities target the judge? Experience shows that this happens in cases where a judge tries to show independence, to act faithfully to the judge's title, and not to the instructions of the government.
So, it is not excluded that Sargis Petrosyan was placed in the latter group by the authorities and appeared in the "black list", that is, among those who do not fit into the group of those who blindly follow Nikol Pashinyan's will, "judges of the heart".
