We have an ambitious goal to become a member of the European Union

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze announced that the republic intends to become a member of the European Union by 2030.

"We have an ambitious goal to become a member of the European Union by 2030, when Georgia will be the most ready of the candidate countries for EU membership in all aspects: democracy, human rights, economy, etc.," Kobakhidze told Georgian journalists in Budapest.

On Thursday, he gave a speech at the plenary session of the European Union summit held in the capital of Hungary and had meetings with the leaders of several European countries. Kobakhidze said.

Commenting on the demands of the European leaders to cancel the laws on foreign agents adopted in Georgia and the ban on propaganda of the LGBT community, Kobakhidze said that the Georgian side needs arguments that the opponents do not present.

"If someone has complaints about the laws we have adopted, then he should specifically present what he does not like, what article, what norm," said the Prime Minister of Georgia.
