"Fact" daily writes:
The statement of the deputy speaker of the Mill Mejlis of Azerbaijan, Ziyafet Askerov, that every "West Azerbaijani" has the right to "return" to the lands of his ancestors, once again reveals the flagrant asymmetry in the process of the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
It is obvious that Baku keeps this false and far-fetched talk on its agenda as a legitimate tool for future ambitions and constant pressure on Armenia's sovereign territory.
However, the most worrying thing in this situation is the passionate, fearful and subordinating attitude of the Armenian authorities to their own state interests, in contrast to the conciliatory and threatening behavior in the "internal field".
Instead of showing adequate and tough diplomatic opposition to these aggressive and state-destructive theses voiced by Azerbaijan, the leadership of Armenia prefers to pretend that such a problem does not exist.
This is despite the fact that the Armenian side willingly discusses and accepts almost all demands of Azerbaijan, starting from the unilateral principles of border demarcation to the readiness to change the mother law of their own country.
A situation has been created when the government, which acts with aggressive rhetoric, shouts and a "duh" image in front of the domestic audience, is not capable of asking even primitive and logical questions on the external front.
If Armenia fulfills all the preconditions of Baku, why does Azerbaijan, which is supposedly seeking peace, not officially give up its false, absurd and dangerous talk about "Western Azerbaijan"?
In the background of all this, the absolute renunciation policy adopted by the Armenian authorities in the matter of Artsakh deserves special criticism.
Official Yerevan not only does not try, but also openly avoids raising the issue of collective and safe return of Artsakh Armenians, protection of their rights and property on international platforms.
By completely erasing the protection of the rights of their compatriots from the international agenda and considering the Artsakh page finally closed, the authorities gave Baku the opportunity to advance its historical falsification unhindered.
As a result, Azerbaijan, having ethnically cleansed the native Armenians of Artsakh, today imposes the fabricated thesis of "Western Azerbaijan" on the international community, while the Armenian government silently follows this process, fearing to violate the "illusion of peace" invented by itself.
As long as Armenian diplomacy acts exclusively in the role of a concessioner and a supporter of Azerbaijan's demands, any paper agreement will not bring peace, but will simply record another capitulation of Armenia.
