The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a booster anomaly during the 12th test flight of the Starship spacecraft. This mission was the 12th full test of the Starship system in the company's history, but the first for the significantly redesigned version 3. Moreover, the rocket launched for the first time from the second, completely new launch pad of the Texas space station.
"The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is aware of an anomaly during SpaceX Starship Flight 12, which launched from Texas on May 22 (local time).
The anomaly affected the Super Heavy booster during its turn over the Gulf of America (Gulf of Mexico). There were no reports of injuries or damage to public property,” the FAA said in a statement on its website.
