Japan will participate in an online meeting of defense ministers organized by Great Britain and France regarding the multinational mission in the Strait of Hormuz, Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi told reporters. "This evening I will participate in an online meeting of defense ministers on the multinational mission in the Strait of Hormuz, jointly organized by Great Britain and France," he said.
Koizumi emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is "the main hub of global logistics" and therefore "it is necessary to restore stability in the strait as soon as possible and ensure free and safe navigation for all countries". The head of the Ministry of Defense of Japan added that during the meeting he intends to discuss "measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz" with his colleagues.
Earlier, the British Ministry of Defense announced that on May 12, Great Britain and France will hold the first meeting of the defense ministers of more than 40 countries to coordinate aspects of the international military mission in the Strait of Hormuz.
