The Ministry of Defense proposes to make changes and additions to the government's decision N 160-N of February 9, 2023.
In order to increase the attractiveness of serving under the "Defender of the Homeland" program and the possibility of these servicemen to remain in contract military service in the future, the law has established the possibility of calculating an honorarium in the event that these servicemen sign another two or five-year contract based on the expiration of the first five-year contract.
According to Article 32 of the Law "On Military Service and the Status of Servicemen", the contract signed with a serviceman entering the military service for the first time is considered the first contract, and according to the requirements of Article 33, the contract signed by the contract serviceman after the expiration of the contract or on other grounds specified in part 1 of the same article is considered a regular contract.
In order to fulfill the requirements of the law, in the program "Defender of a Citizen" it is proposed to set the amount of honorarium at 1 million 500 thousand drams in case of signing a regular contract for a period of two years, and in case of signing a regular contract for a period of five years, to set the amount of honorarium at 5 million drams (so that the servicemen give preference to the five-year period, "Past" daily newspaper writes. At the same time, taking into account the changes related to the training phase of the soldiers conscripted for compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of Armenia and in order to facilitate the process of organizing contractual military service under the "Defender of the Citizen" program, it is necessary to establish the possibility of submitting a report for the contract military service under the "Defender of the Citizen" program instead of after the first 6 months of the mandatory military service upon completion of the first 4 months of the mandatory military service.
In addition, there is a need to align the condition of acceptance of contract military service under the "Defender of the Citizen" program with the change made by the law regarding the certification of contract servicemen.
