Syunik Marz Investigative Department is investigating the circumstances of the case of smuggling and illegal circulation of 501 grams of "Methamphetamine" drug. "In 2024 On October 25, the Syunik regional department of the RA NSS received operational information that the truck driver who entered RA from the Republic of Iran, who is a resident of the Gegharkunik marz and is carrying out cargo transportation with his own "KAMAZ" truck, under the name of a parcel containing sweets transferred to Armenia, which was transferred to the latter in the territory of the Republic of Iran by a person who is a citizen of that country, for the purpose of transferring it to another person in Armenia.
Having implemented the received operational data, after crossing the RA state border, the employees of the National Security Service of Syunik approached the driver of the "KAMAZ" truck. As a result of the explanatory work carried out by the latter, he admitted that 2 packages were transferred to him in the territory of the Republic of Iran for the purpose of transferring the identity to an unknown person in the Republic of Armenia. According to the received data, the person who was supposed to take the said package, allegedly containing sweets, informed the truck driver by phone call. , that he will meet and pick it up on the Yerevan-Meghri highway. That circumstance seemed suspicious to the driver, because no one would go a long way for sweets, and having certain doubts, he checked the contents of the package and found out that there were crystal-like masses in it. Suspecting that the contents of the package might be drugs, out of fear, he left it in the territory of one of the settlements," the report of the Investigative Committee states.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the incident. As a result of the conducted investigative and administrative actions, the explanatory works, the driver of the truck showed the location of the packages in the relevant settlement. During the search, they were found and taken. It was found that the package contained two packages with a total weight of 501.93 grams of white crystalline mass. A forensic examination was appointed, and according to its conclusion, the 240-gram mass in one of the polyethylene packages submitted to the examination is "Methamphetamine" type of drug. In order to find out important circumstances for the proceedings, the regional department of the RA NSS Syunik was given an assignment to carry out operative-investigative measures, as a result of which data was obtained about the identity of the two persons apparently engaged in illegal drug trafficking in the territory of the Republic of Armenia with the above-mentioned citizen of Iran, one of them from Syunik and the other from He is a resident of Gegharkun marz.
As a result of the implemented measures, the latter were arrested at the time of taking the package kept in hiding. According to Article 44-393, Clause 2 of Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, decisions were made to initiate public criminal prosecution against the mentioned two persons, and they were charged. the submitted petition.
