Dr. Vicente Mera warned that sleeping less than six hours a night for 10 years reduces life expectancy by one year. In an interview with 20minutos, he revealed the ideal remedy for insomnia.
According to Mera, the "ritual" should begin at least an hour before bedtime and consists of several steps. First, turn off your smartphone, TV, tablet and other electronic devices, he noted. Second, turn off the lights and ensure silence.
According to the doctor, taking a hot shower and washing your face with warm water will also help you relax. Mera also recommended spending time on meditation and breathing techniques. Finally, he emphasized the importance of going to bed and waking up at the same time not only on weekdays, but also on weekends.
