Qatar is conducting negotiations to find a diplomatic solution to the situation surrounding Iran, Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, adviser to the prime minister and the official spokesman of the Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.
"We are still at the stage where we believe that a diplomatic solution can be found. That is why we are having private talks with all sides of the region," he said during a briefing for journalists.
The authorities of Qatar have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the people of the emirate in connection with the tense situation around Iran, Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari said.
"In terms of our defense, as with any escalation and any conflict in the region, the government has taken all possible precautions to ensure that the safety and security of Qatari citizens and residents is a top priority for all members of the government," he said, when asked about security measures in light of mutual threats from Washington and Tehran.
In this regard, the representative of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Doha is participating in the negotiation process to settle the situation around Iran.
"We are still at the stage where we think that a diplomatic solution can be found."
