Next year, the amount of money allocated to national minorities from the state budget of Armenia will increase by about 25 percent, amounting to 25 million drams. Araik Harutyunyan, head of the staff of the RA Prime Minister, said this at the joint session of the NA standing committees during the preliminary discussion of the 2025 state budget law.
This year, changes have taken place in the council on the issue of national minorities. By the decision of the Prime Minister, the head of the staff was appointed as the head of the council.
"It means that the government has begun to pay even more attention to this direction. And it was also reflected in the budget.
Within the framework of the event, 20 million drams were planned this year, we increased it, made it 25 million drams, increased it by about 25 percent," said Harutyunyan.
Within the scope of the event, it is planned to provide support to 15 non-governmental organizations of 11 national minorities, based on the applications for financing projects submitted by the latter to the council and the corresponding order.
Harutyunyan also mentioned that the increase compared to 2024 is due to the organization of Sunday schools, summer camps, the publication of monthly newspapers, the establishment or development of websites, as well as the organization of students' visits to historical and cultural centers.
