The Thai ground forces have announced that the number of Thai soldiers killed during the border conflict with Cambodia has increased by two to 19, the Thai newspaper The Nation reports.
"The Ministry of Defense and the Royal Thai Army confirmed on December 16 that two Thai soldiers were killed while defending Hill 350 on the border with Surin, after Cambodian troops intensified their attacks on the hill," the December 16 summary of events said.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense said that Cambodia continued to attack the Thai border areas with heavy small arms on the evening of December 16 and the morning of December 17. It was reported earlier that Thai troops have taken control of the ancient Ta Kwai temple complex in Surin province, pushing Cambodian forces out of that area.
