The Indian government has adopted a resolution that recognizes the car explosion near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi as a terrorist attack. This was announced by the office of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Modi chaired the meeting of the cabinet dealing with security issues. It started with a minute of silence in memory of the victims. The government's resolution states that the country has witnessed "a heinous terrorist act carried out by anti-national forces in the Red Fort by means of a car explosion".
The body ordered the "most urgent and professional" investigation to ensure that "all perpetrators, accomplices and sponsors are immediately identified and brought to justice."
The resolution emphasizes that the situation is under the constant control of the government at the highest level.
A car exploded near the Red Fort of the Indian capital on Monday evening. According to the latest reports, 13 people were killed and more than 20 people were injured. The investigation of the terrorist attack was handed over to the National Bureau of Investigation.
