Fidan: The draft UN resolution on Gaza is in the "procedure of silence" stage

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that discussions on the UN Security Council draft resolution authorizing foreign forces to enter the Gaza Strip are ongoing, and the document is now being reviewed by stakeholders within the "procedure of silence".

“Different participants in this work have different perspectives and priorities. Reconciling them into a single text can be difficult. And, of course, it is impossible to completely satisfy everyone. This is an integral part of diplomacy and compromise.

However, this text of the resolution should not hinder the future implementation of the peace process, its disruption should not be allowed. Work on the text of the resolution continues.

The text is currently being submitted for review under the silent procedure. We continue to make our assessments and work with our partners," said Fidan, commenting on the results of his trip to the US to the Turkish media.

The silence procedure gives UN members the opportunity to carefully study the draft resolution, raise objections or clarify their position.
