Dangerous brain cancer has had a devastating effect on bones

For the first time, scientists from Albert Estinian Medical College have found that globlastoma, the most reluctant and dangerous brain cancer affect not only the brain, but also on the skull. The results of the study were published in Nature Neuroscience (Natneurosci).

Previously thought the tumor only affected the brain. Although surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, the average survival of patients with glioblastoma is only 15 months.

The new study showed that globlastoma destroys the skull bones, especially where they merge, and changing the bone marrow.

"Blood cells, including immune cells, are produced in bone marrow," scientists explain.

Researchers have used advanced image methods to track how the tumor affects the skull bones near laboratory mice. They found that globlastomation causes bone erosion and increases the number of microwaves connecting the skull to the brain. Cells and signal molecules can move freely through these channels.

Scientists also found out that the gold and herrid bone marriages respond differently to the tumor.

The genetic analysis has shown that the disease dramatically changes the composition of the immune cells of the skull bone marrow. Inflammatory cells such as neutrophiles and monocytes are sharply growing. At the same time, B cells, the important components of the immune system responsible for the production of antibodies, almost disappear.

"This explains why globlastoma becomes more aggressive and why it is so difficult to treat it," says one of the authors of the study. Richard Stanley.

Researchers are now studying the ability to develop therapy in bone marrow in bone marrow in bone marrow, which will suppress inflammatory cells and activate protective cells.
