The recharge of smartphones in public USB wires in airports, shopping malls and other public places, RT reports, citing the head of the "Roscakhtvo" Digital Expert Center Sergey Kuzmenko.

According to the specialist, the main threat is the USB cord. Cybercropers can integrate hidden equipment in the charger, covert as a flash drive or keyboard. This poses a threat to install malware or stealing personal data during connection.

Kuzmenko noted that such attacks are especially dangerous for old smartphones, which have not received security updates for some time.

The expert concluded that the main indicator of the potential threat is to access the device's screen or request permission to take action.

For security reasons, it is recommended to use portable batteries (Power Bank) and the latest software options, all popular vulnerabilities updated.
