Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas announced the country's desire to join BRICS.
“We express gratitude to the leaders of the BRICS countries for their position on the Palestinian issue and, in this regard, we confirm Palestine’s desire to join the organization,” TASS quotes him. Abbas also announced Palestine’s readiness to participate in BRICS events and the desire to “build strategic relations” with members of the organization. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for everything to be done to fundamentally change the situation around Palestine. In addition, it was reported that the BRICS countries supported the admission of Palestine to the UN within the 1967 borders.
