Merz. The German authorities do not consider Israel's actions to be genocide in the Gaza Strip

The German government rejects the assessment of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip. This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a press conference with Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

"We do not agree to qualify for these actions," the Chancellor said, answering journalists' questions. "We share the assessment that Israel's actions are disproportionate," he added.

According to Merz, the Israeli government will not "achieve its goals" in this way, that is, the destruction of Hamas.

Merz also repeated that "the recognition of the Palestinian statehood for the German government is not currently a subject of discussion."
