A gold coin of 2200 years of golden antiquity was found in Jerusalem

The archaeologists of Jerusalem have discovered a rare gold coin of 2270 years old, which depicts the Queen of Egyptian Berenikei II. The coin dates back to her husband, Ptolemy III, which was the third prince of the Egyptian Fruit Kingdom.

It could be part of the coin collection, which was given as a gift from the third Assyrian war (246-241 BC). That war was pushed between the Egyptian Egyptian Kingdom and Assyrian Seljuk Kingdom.

One side of the coin depicts the Queen Berenike II with a crown, headscarf and necklace. On the other side, the abundance of horns and two stars, and the inscription on the ancient Greek is written by "Basileisses" ("Queen"). Berenike II was Ptolemy III's wife and queen. But the coin inscription shows that he could also rule on his own. Bereniki has previously been Queen Kirenayka (now the eastern part of Libya), married to Ptolemy, and connected the area to the Kingdom of Egypt. When Ptolemy III pushed a war in Syria, he became the Egyptian regent.

Although it is not yet clear how the coin appeared in Jerusalem, it proves that the city was rapidly recovering from BC. 586-587 After the destruction of the first temple by King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon.
