It has become known whether it is possible to recognize the lie from the face of the interlocutor

Researchers at the British Columbia University concluded that there were no universal "liar's gestures." It is impossible to determine whether a person lies or tells the truth based on his face or speech. The work was published in the "LHB" magazine.

Professor Leah Brinke has studied the phenomenon of deception and noted that the accuracy of the recognition of the lie in unmissured people does not exceed 54%. At the same time, the result of trials and investigations often depends on this skill.

Earlier, in 2012, the Brink team revealed four signs, which were supposed to be given the opportunity to distinguish true claims, raised eyebrows, smile, evasive words ("maybe", "I think") and the number of phrases. These conclusions were based on the analysis of public statements of people who were later caught in lied the fate of their loved ones.

However, a new study showed that the application of previous criteria failed in other cases. Some signs have not appeared at all, and the forecast force has decreased to a random guess.

"People often think that they can recognize the lie with certain words or facial expressions. However, the signals in one group do not work for everyone, especially under stress, "the scientist explained.

According to Brinke, the detection of deception requires a more personalized approach and further research, and the myth of "liar's smile" or "conversational gestures" is nothing but a beautiful story.
