Artificial intelligence discovers 30% of the cases of breast cancer missed by doctors

The artificial intelligence system has discovered almost a third of aggressive tumors, which remained unnoticed during the diagnosis. This conclusion was scientists from Harvard University. The results of the study presented the North American radiology company (RSNA).

In many countries, women regularly have mammography for early detection of breast cancer. However, the most dangerous is tumors that are developing between research. They grow rapidly, often have a typical form and can be hidden behind dense tissues, so it is difficult to recognize the two-dimensional X-ray images.

The researchers have analyzed about 1.4 thousand tomographic images, including 224 cases of tumors, which doctors did not notice. The Ministry of Justice I have identified 73 of them, this is 32% of all missed diagnosis.

According to MISDAYAL UNIVERSITY, MISHA CHAL, IT, did not only discover hidden tumors, but also determined their borders.

"This emphasizes the potential of the ABC as a second-opinion tool in the diagnosis of breast cancer," he said.

The authors of the study believe that the integration of artificial intelligence in mammography procedures can not only improve the accuracy of the diagnosis, but also reduce the number of research, maintaining efficiency. This is especially important for the timely detection of aggressive cancer forms, which are the largest threat to patients' lives.
