Russia may refuse to accept planes and trains from Azerbaijan if the practice of "renaming" Russian cities will be widespread in the country. The first vice-president of the State Duma Committee on the CIS Committee Konstantin Zatulin told RTVI about the use of the Azerbaijani media in the case of "Stepanakert".
"As for the renaming of Russian cities and geographical concepts, which Azerbaijan has decided to take revenge, I wish them success. The only thing is that in this situation we can hardly be able to train trains and planes, if the destination has been written there as they have now decided, "Zatulin warned.
He expressed hope that Russia, "a state with more historical roots of today's Azerbaijan" and "more mature society", will not respond to the renaming of Russian cities in Azerbaijani media.
Zatulin noted that Stepanakert has always been in Stepanakert, and its renovation is not a "cause to criticize" media reports on Azerbaijan's own barbaric actions in the territory of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
