Moscow hopes that the talks between Russia and Ukraine will begin in the near future, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for the Russian president.
"Obviously, all the attention is now focused on how the negotiation situation in Istanbul is developing. We hope that the direct Russian-Ukrainian talks will start in the near future. There is no need to say so far, we have to wait and see how they will pass them, "Peskov told reporters.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier offered Ukraine to resume direct talks without preconditions in Istanbul on May 15. The head of state did not rule out that during the relevant negotiations the parties may agree on the ceasefire.
