The US State Department considers the closure of about 30 diplomatic missions abroad. This was reported by the New York Times (NYT), referring to the internal document of the department.
The American media outlets on the planned reduction of foreign missions and staff there, but only about the closure of about ten consulates were spoken.
According to the newspaper, most of the diplomatic missions, which are planned to be closed, are located in Europe and Africa. These are Malta, Luxembourg, Lesotho, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Eritrea, Gambia, the Republic of the Maldives and Grenada. All of these countries can see their embassies closed.
The document also suggests completely closing or reducing the embassy in Somalia and the Diplomatic Support Center in Baghdad.
