Genocide denial is a serious threat to the existence and future of Armenia

The Europeans for Artsakh platform has issued a statement addressing Prime Minister Pashinyan’s statements on the Armenian Genocide:

“The Europeans for Artsakh Platform is shocked and shocked by the unacceptable statements of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on the Armenian Genocide. These statements, which cast doubt on established historical truths and undeniable facts, insult the victims of the Genocide and the descendants of the survivors. The struggle for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide involves decades of continuous and dedicated work by historians, politicians, humanitarian organizations and Armenian citizens, and these unacceptable statements attempt to undermine those efforts.

The struggle for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide has strong roots in the activities of European Armenians, thanks to which the majority of European countries, as well as the European Parliament, have recognized this great crime committed against the Armenian people.

As Europeans, it was offensive to see the Prime Minister of Armenia question this progress for which the Republic of Armenia and the European Armenian community have collaborated for years.

Efforts to recognize the Armenian Genocide should not be subject to any domestic or permanent foreign political motivation.

Questioning certain aspects of this battle for political purposes only contributes to the disinformation campaigns of our enemies, who seek to distort the truth.

The people of Artsakh have been subjected to Genocide and ethnic cleansing. The Europeans for Artsakh Platform seeks to ensure the condemnation of this crime against humanity and the punishment of those responsible on international platforms.

Establishing responsibility and recognizing the Genocide are necessary for establishing a just peace.

It is an accepted assumption that when a criminal does not admit his crime and does not repent for his heinous act, he can always repeat it.

The same is true of Turkey. It does not admit its crime and does not repent. Our compatriots in Artsakh experienced the repetition of the Genocide.

Turkey’s denial of the Genocide and its current questioning by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia can seriously endanger the existence and future of the Republic of Armenia.

Europeans for Artsakh
February 10, 2025.”
