Four US Congressmen have sent a letter to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling on Azerbaijan to hold responsibility for military crimes and ethnic cleansing in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
The letter was sent on behalf of Congressmen Frank Pallone, Gas Biliriakis, Brad Sherman and David Valadao.
In their letter, congressmen propose sanctions against Azerbaijan within the framework of Magnitsky Act, as well as to defend Armenia's territorial integrity, which is blocked by Azerbaijan and Turkey.
The need to release all Armenian prisoners in Baku also emphasizes the need to protect the Armenian cultural heritage in Nagorno Karabakh.
In their letter, congressmen also draw the attention of the US Secretary of State to the Armenian community of Syria and his rich Christian legacy.
