On January 17, the civil court of the first instance of general jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan decided that "Skizb Media Center" LLC, the website 1in.am violated the rights of "Fotolur News Agency".reports a1plus.
The website 1in.am used photos of "Fotolur" in its materials without proper rights or payments. "Fotolur" sued "Skizb Media Center" in July of last year, demanding to stop the use of copyright objects. He also demanded compensation for the violations committed.
The court examined the application and decided to expropriate 2,400,000 AMD as a royalty from "Skizb Media Center" LLC in favor of "Photolur". 20,000 AMD should also be expropriated in favor of "Photolur" as the amount of state duty paid in advance for a non-monetary claim. , 72,000 drams as the amount of state duty paid in advance for the monetary claim and AMD 200,000 for the lawyer's fee.
"The culture of using photos in Armenia is very low, anyone uses what they want, from where they want. We followed and saw many media that take photos not only of us, but also of anyone, infringing the copyright. Our lawyer warned several times to stop this practice, but they did not do anything, and until now they are still using our photos without having the right to do so.
This should be a precedent for other media not to use without rights," says Melik Baghdasaryan, director of "Fotolur".
