Medinsky: the conflict could end in 2022, if it were Kyiv’s will

The Ukrainian conflict could have ended back in 2022 if Kyiv had had the “will and mind,” said Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky, who led the delegation of the Russian Federation during the dialogue with Kiev. His words were quoted by RIA Novosti. Medinsky told journalists that the conflict would have come to an end “if there had been the intelligence and will of the Ukrainian side in this regard.”

In April, Vladimir Medinsky noted that the Ukrainian delegation at negotiations with Russia in Istanbul in 2022 complained that it needed to coordinate decisions with “three bosses” at once. In November 2023, David Arakhamia gave an interview to the 1+1 TV channel, in which he admitted that it was former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who dissuaded Ukraine from signing any peace agreements with Russia. He said that the Russian side was ready to end the conflict if Ukraine “takes neutrality, like Finland,” and pledges not to join NATO.
