Parliament of Georgia is closed to visitors due to rallies

The leadership of the Georgian Parliament has decided to set a red level of security and thereby close the legislative building of Tbilisi to visitors due to large-scale anti-government demonstrations. This was stated in the statement of the legislative body.

"From today, November 29, a red level has been set in the building of the Parliament of Georgia, no one will be allowed to enter the parliament, except for those persons identified by the head of the parliamentary staff," the statement said.

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze announced on Thursday that the ruling "Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia" party has decided not to include the EU membership negotiations on the agenda until the end of 2028 and to refuse all community budget grants.

Kobakhidze's statement caused displeasure among some citizens who started gathering near the parliament building on Thursday. The rally turned into a fight with the police, as a result of which law enforcement officers, demonstrators, media representatives were injured. The special forces dispersed the protesters and completely liberated Rustaveli avenue in front of the parliament in the morning.
