According to the Ukrainian president, the American delegation was unable to use the plane due to the Russian strikes.
"The US President's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled to the Ukrainian capital by train, as it was not possible to meet them at the airport due to the air strikes," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told reporters.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian side had made all the necessary preparations in advance, and the airports were operational, but the attacks by the Russian side prevented their arrival by plane. An air emergency was declared in Kiev at night, despite the fact that there was an agreement not to strike the two capitals during the visit of the American delegation.
After leaving Moscow, Witkoff and Kushner first landed in the Polish city of Rzeszow, from where they continued their journey to Ukraine by train.
