The first elections of deputies of the new unicameral Parliament of Kazakhstan, the Kurulta, which was formed after the new constitution came into force, will be held on August 23. This was announced in the decree published by the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev.
"I command. "The elections of Kurulta deputies of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been scheduled for August 23, 2026," reads the decree published by the press service of the President of Kazakhstan. August 23 coincides with the penultimate Sunday of the month. The decree also instructs the Central Electoral Commission of Kazakhstan to organize the preparation and holding of the elections, and the government of the republic and the local self-government bodies of the regions to take measures for their organization and logistical support.
The decree entered into force from the moment of its publication.
