"Fact" daily writes:
At the end of February, it became known that after years of holding its home matches at the Avan Football Academy stadium, "Ararat-Armenia" will hold its home matches of the spring part of the Armenian Championship in the city of Abovyan, at the stadium named after Vahagn Tumasyan.
This was announced by the club's fan club ALFA, adding that "the Football Federation of Armenia is using its special non-football, institutional and administrative measures in an attempt to prevent Ararat-Armenia from achieving football success." In this regard, "Pasti" has received new information.
Our sources report that the authorities sent a direct order to the Football Federation of Armenia to make every effort to prevent "Ararat-Armenia" from winning the championship. Of course, at the moment three teams (very theoretically even five) have a real chance to become champions, but the problem of the authorities is Ararat-Armena.
First of all, let's remind that at the beginning of 2018, the club was acquired by businessman Samvel Karapetyan. In the current championship, the team is in the second place with 38 points, but since it played one game less than the team in the first place, it is the leader in points lost.
The championship will end around the end of May (the playing days of the last rounds have not yet been determined), and the authorities have "found" a political context here as well. Apart from harming Samvel Karapetyan and his "Strong Armenia", according to the authorities, the championship of "Ararat-Armenia" before the elections can be a serious "cheap" factor. Therefore, as far as we know, it has been instructed to rule out such a scenario at all costs, be it through referees or other "tricks".
