Germany currently has no plans to purchase additional F-35 fighter jets from the United States, Reuters reported, citing a government spokesman. Earlier, Reuters, citing sources, reported that Germany is considering the possibility of ordering additional F-35 fighter jets from the United States, and Berlin is negotiating the purchase of more than 35 aircraft.
"There are no such plans or decisions," the government spokesman said. In 2022, the Ministry of Defense has already ordered 35 aircraft of this type from the USA, and the first fighters are planned to be commissioned in 2027.
The F-35s are intended to replace the aging Tornado fighter jets, whose mission is to provide nuclear deterrence and deliver American nuclear warheads to their targets in Germany.
